Aquamarine has always been a customer favorite and mine as well. Though my birthstone is amethyst, I’ve always felt aquamarine is my stone. We don’t always have to love those things we’re born into.
It’s been especially meaningful to make this small, sort of haphazard collection this March. After making jewelry for 16+ years I feel like I’ve finally caught up. Things are in order enough to be creative and work with stones the color of ocean in spring. Ponder how to translate the pale quiet lonely beach and end of winter flora. I usually add it to my to do list, but this year I spent 10 minutes a day working on some new-ish ideas and that turned into days, which turned into things!
Aquamarine’s name comes from the Latin for seawater and it was said to calm waves and keep sailors safe at sea. March’s birthstone was also thought to enhance the happiness of marriages. https://www.gia.edu/aquamarine
